This blog is dedicated to that. You have nothing to offer your world than your best and your best isn't enough until you have transformed yourself and your world. One thing is certain, God has provided everything you will ever need to be the best you can to transform your world.dbelovedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03283604585534887489noreply@blogger.comBlogger18125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-680949756000730426.post-48935415153070711192017-05-26T02:43:00.000+01:002017-05-26T02:43:33.001+01:00Testing my Scratch ProjectCheck out Abundance project below.

I will start by encouraging you to read my initial blog post on this topic Blended Learning as a Service #1 in 2012. The post is still refreshing to me today. I wrote all my post from the viewpoint of "as a service".

Reading through the blendkit reader again material again, I will like to comment on the following:

I find the five design activities highly interesting. Nobody should miss it. See below

5 Main Design Activities are:

Identifying learning and teaching principles.

Describing organizational contexts

Describing discipline-specific factors

Selecting and situating appropriate learning technologies

Articulating the complementary interaction between classroom and online learning activities

Then I extended the two Detailed Personal Reflection here:

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">In blended learning, typically the face-to-face component is supported by supplementary online content. This is usually contained within an LMS, often with asynchronous discussion groups and synchronous sessions, and it may take the form of blogs, podcasts and multimedia simulations.

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">This is good for face to face class that wants to be transformed to a blended form.

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">Conversely, a blended course might exist primarily online, with a few face-to-face meetings for more experiential learning opportunities such as labs, visits to specific sites, or face-to-face orientation sessions so students can meet each other and the instructor.

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">This is good for a distance learning course that wants to be transformed to a blended form. In such cases that requires more practical component, the main programme may reside online while an attachment for the practical component means a meeting schedule. examples of likely programme include Nursing, some Engineering courses etc

Thank you for your time and I will be up for comments from anyone.

order to pass the same knowledge authoritatively to most of my colleagues in
Nigeria.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">The
above was a motivation, however going through, I have earned beyond a certification
already and this has impacted my whole life as a digital age person.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">What
I have learned thus far.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">So
what have I learned in 4 weeks or thereabout:

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Understanding of the creative commons licenses I see every time at the bottom
pages but neglect. From my perspective as a software and particularly open
source advocate, I understand the GNU licenses to a certain degree but creative
commons are just clear to me now.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">I now know several errors that I have committed in the past about other
people's work. This is so much in the images area. I have decided to look more
into licenses before using that next image

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">#OER has a lot of provisions already that I can be part of and make direct use
of and that is what I will look out for in the nearest future

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">This #mOOC has made me to relate with other people's stories from other
countries and we have shared respect knowledge on how things can move forward.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">I have added to my info list and I am glad I know about OER Commons now. It
adds to MERLOT that I am already part of.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Using
my latest equipping

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Why
I picked this sub-topic on equipping is simple, I realize that there is a lot
of work to be done if so much ambiguity on educational resources especially
digital resources will be used ethically and responsibly. The prelude at the
top of this blog is from Chris Betcher and I'm really fascinated by the perspective
and mindset.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">It
starts with making a compendium of all I have learned and discussing it with my
unit members. I will start from my end to start to use the materials from the
Internet appropriately. Then how can this be taught to just everyone in the educational
sector - administrators, teachers and students in like fashion. This is an
important assignment that needs to be carried out and I am offering to start
here and now.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Conclusion

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">I
will surely be coming back to this resource since it is what will organically
be on for me personally, as an advocate and as a stakeholder in the education
sector. Thanks @Wayne Mac and Randy Fisher for directing me to this resource in
the first place. I appreciate everyone.

that legislation on things like this are not rightly protected though they are
codified in sections of the constitution and the copyrights are the initial
parts of every book you had access to. Enforcement however, is another thing
entirely. Howbeit, the Internet came with its disruption and since it was
foreign at least most of the materials we had access to, there was little to
bother about licensing and legalities. A lot of people just replicated things
and some made it theirs.

The timing of the course, coming some few months after the demise of <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Nelson Mandela and listening to <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Arch. Desmond Tutu is both memorable. These are the two heavyweights I revere most in South Africa.
Two things are striking about the two of them and the subject matter. Firstly, I have heard the word Ubuntu from Mandela before and it is actually the Operating System I am using on my Laptop. Ubuntu is a Linux distro and it is free and open source software, freely licensed. I knew the name Ubuntu means human kindness and that rings in my head but this is the first time I am merging the words with what creative commons or licensing as it were has offered.
Secondly, Arch. Desmond Tutu introducing creative commons in terms of software been produced really brought alive the subject matter to me.

Yes, Creative Commons has been well illustrated to me the more in the initial class and I have had a deeper look at the varieties of the licenses that are available. I can both use it properly and bring it to the notice of more academia around me that still move with the mentality of proprietary (hoarding and safeguarding information). How licensing made open education resources (OER) come alive is now very clear. Most people use resources on the Internet and never for once think of how it was made available for them to even copy, not to talk of using it valuably. It’s really interesting that there is no how you can be a 21st Century educator or researcher that you will not have made use of an OER. Open Licensing makes it available.
My College just adopted a research policy and this is an ample opportunity to introduce all these to them clearly: licensing, open education resources (OER), free and open software, creative commons and how they all help to foster the learning for tomorrow. They already shape today and the impact is set for tomorrow since knowledge is progressional.
My first MOOC was actually the first started by Edx in March 2012 on “Circuits and Electronics” (6.002x). Thanks to this post for reminding me. Wow! I have come a long way with MOOCs already then and I can say one or two things confidently.

From then on I have tried to get the time to take on more MOOCs. The Computer Science class CS50x by David Malan was also my favourite.

Of all the MOOCs I participated in 2012, I was able to finish just the one by my friend Kelvin Thompson the Blendkit Course. It was fascinating for me and I had a one on one relationship with the coordinator. The interesting thing to me is that we have authored two presentation on the Sloan's Annual Educational Conferences based on our interactions on the Blendkit Course.

This is just a brief so I will close on this: MOOCs has transformed my educational and professional journey and I am seeking ways to make it possible for more people to get on the jolly train of MOOCs because it is fun.
Before we say Jack Robinson, we will be counting the last two weeks of the year in December.

I am not sure of what your New Year resolutions were (if you had one) or properly put did you have a plan for the year? I got this reading through Today Matters by John C. Maxwell, "according to a survey taken by Day-Timers, Inc., only one-third of American workers plan their daily schedules. And only 9 percent follow through and complete what they planned."
There is no rule to been effective all year than by making your plan and living it out. So, get the going on, pick a guide, planner or any dedicated material you can get (a notepad is what I use) scribble your agenda first, prioritize them and follow what you have written. They should be Daily, Monthly, Quarterly and Annually.

While doing the above, it is very important to make plans to be the best in what you do this year and that means staying in your strength zone. Like John C. Maxwell detailed in Today Matters, there are four ways to get at your strength zone viz:
- Trial and Error: Get hands-on on what you think you like and evaluate your experience after more than five attempts. It gives a clear view if you should go ahead or find the exit.
- The Counsel of Others: Be sure to ask for evaluations from those who don't have an agenda - other than to help you grow and develop.
- Personality Tests: Examples could be gotten from the Internet
- Personal Experiences: It is important to note, Experience isn't always the best teacher - evaluated experience is!

According to William Gladstone, former British Prime Minister, "He is a wise man who wastes no energy on pursuits for which he is not fitted; and he is wiser still who from among the things he can do well, chooses and resolutely follows the best." The more you stay in your strength zone, the greater your productivity and the greater your ability to reach your potential.

So start the planning now, consider your strength zone and live according to your plans.

You will have fulfilled year, I promise.
Blended Learning and Paperbacks in Schools

Continuing conversation with Dr. Kelvin Thompson @Blendkit2012

Like most other outmoded technologies, paperbacks are gradually going. Perhaps not into extinction but they are surely getting reduced used with increased use of other technologies that can assist/aid learning.

Presently, the public K-12 schools in Nigeria are given free text sponsored by the government and a whole sector is dependent on that. With instructional designs considering other aisle of learning which would make paperback not the sole contributor to students and in fact might be relegated by the student body themselves when there is a more convenient way they can learn, blended learning stands to be discredited by the publishers (save for those who are ready to brace up).

How can this be resolved?

In adoption/deployment of blended learning, we are looking at everything that could be an issue and preparing ahead to know what probable options we can take.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Anyone with a reference, case study etc on this from blendkit people will be appreciated.
Interactions

The definition of service is never completed without the
one you are serving! It is a misnomer to act in the Information Age as if you
could be the repository of all knowledge for a particular thing. The teacher
will be surprised how much the student knows more than him/her when an occasion
rises.

#Blendkit2012 outlined four role-playing for
interactivity to occur. Each of them has its place in shifting the
responsibility of achieving the aim of education from a teacher-centric to a
mutual evolution.

One school of thought is of the opinion that since
students becomes teachers and implementer users of what is being taught; they
are at the end of a chain that needs them to be completed. The interaction is not
when they are made (because several will never be made due to incomprehension) interaction
engenders the process of being made qualitatively.

Two things are important in Interaction

Collaboration: Mutuality as expressed in understanding
blending learning is founded in collaboration. Learning thrives in an
atmosphere of collaboration. Everyone brings what he has to the table. The
tutor is simply the initiator and facilitator while the students are the
collaborators. Direction is outlined by the tutor and that is where he/she
stops being ahead.

Utility: According to (Elizabeth, 2012) "The consumer needs
to know what goods and services are available to him in order to maximize his
utility, especially if the consumer is undecided on what he needs. Help the
customer by showing him all the different products or services currently
offered".

Collaboration engenders interaction and interaction enhances utility.

the questions expressly. One more thing I have found about interaction is that
it cuts across all learning orientation. Visual, Verbal, Aural, Kinsthetic,
Tactile (Spiller, 2011) whatever the learning orientation everyone has his/her own distinct way of communicating and a relaxed
means of interaction will bring out the best from everyone.

This post is in terms of the perspective.

The concept of service means the teacher looks at the
appropriate blend that achieves the goals of enhancing knowledge of the student

Customer service is the provision of service to customers

The learner of the 21st century has changed tremendously
and we've got to understand in learning terms how we will like
Le_Chatelier's_Principle shift to offer education in a way that retains its
standard, integrity and achieves the aim of training quality students.

Understanding Blended Learning

Blended Learning is a learner-centric shift. This
definition fits into a service perspective:

The importance of a blended approach to learning is that
it ensures the widest possible impact of a learning experience and thus
ensures...that the organization optimizes productivity and delivers value to
its customers (Julian and Boone 2001)

Note the words: impact of experience, productivity
optimization and value delivery for customers.

The above is a true perception to the blended learning
delivery. Blending learning is not merely the use of technology but about
satisfying the yearning of the learner both expressed and unexpressed.

Consider a walk into the restaurant, it is the function
of the waiter to reveal to the customer the several combinations and blend of
cuisine that are available and based on the order given deliver an exquisite
service.

Blending learning definitely like service has the student
at the heart of the production.

The Intelligent learning system should reason about a
learner's knowledge, monitor progress and adapt the teaching strategy to
individual's learning pattern (Woolf, 1987)

So the question of why is shifting from technology as a
means to change the delivery method to technology as a means to enhance
learning. #BlendkitReader

An understanding of the use of a blend is conveyed in the
findings of B.P. Woolf 2008 that one-on-one tutor yields over 70% of retention
for student. This is not visible in a school setting but blending helps out in
increasing the capability of the program deployed to better performance of the
average student even in a large class setting.

The background of our service lies in the theories that
has been well postulated and of course a blend of theories (Carman, 2005)

I particularly like the Bloom's Taxonomy and the Dale's

Though rained marred proceedings halfway, the attendants still had a lot to cheer. It was a night that Gospel music heavyweights came up on one stage. Imagine Don Moen, Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, Kurt Carr on one stage with the youthful Israel Houghton, Tye Tribbett, Mary Mary and the Jamaican gospel meastro Chevelle Franklyn on the same stage and even defying the rain to minister to their God in the presence of the audience. The atmosphere was electric.
While the videos are not yet available, you can watch some of the songs we enjoyed at the Lagos Experience gospel concert here
dbelovedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03283604585534887489noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-680949756000730426.post-83852668580802749302008-12-06T15:15:00.005+01:002008-12-09T10:48:20.788+01:00Da Lagos Experience 2008 Gospel ConcertLagos, Nigeria and the whole of Africa received a shaking December 05, 2008, when the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) was packed with Great Gospel Artiste for the Lagos Experience 2008.

All the invited artists graced the occasion though rain marred proceedings midway, it was still a very successful event. A record shattering event with an estimated 400,000 souls in attendance for a Gospel concert, there was nothing like it in the history of the world.

Event started a bit late because of the rain in the afternoon which prevented sound engineers to setup in time for the program. We got on with proceedings with the heralding of Muyiwa Olanrewaju, the UK Radio Show anchor and artist with the Riversongz. He ministered to the cheering audience with titles from his album. He then gave a new twist to some Nigerian popular gospel songs. Songs like I have a father who will never ever fail me were re-modeled to the delight of the congregation.

Briefly on stage after him were the Midnight Crew. This Nigerian quartet came on with there mix with the popular Nigerian Igwe song shaking the whole atmosphere. They sang songs that led the whole house to a praise and worship session and the church spirit was re-enacted immediately. Dekunle Fuji was on hand to fill the crowd with his own fuji-style of gospel.

One of the big wigs the audience was expecting came on after some prayers in between. Chevelle Franklyn, the Jamaican gospel artist was spiritual on this night. She first gave some solo works that thrilled the audience with its Jamaican ragga flavour. She did some Nigerian songs and re-mixed it the Jamaican way. The highlight of the session was singing Chris Tomlin's How Great is our God. The song which eventually became the theme song of the night was sang in a worship attitude. Sis. Chevelle gave a great show even at her first coming to Nigeria and the crowd were appreciative.

He was around in 2007 and the audience caught the fire, this year was a mind blowing performance by Tye Oluwaseyi Tribbet. The Nigerian-American was a delight of the audience with his mix of pop, worship and his dance steps that is a major part of his transformational gospel music. He then sang a Nigerian song too and wrapped it up with How Great is our God! There were a lot of approval of his song with the Nigerian audience full of young and informative people.

A big bang, a Gospel music giant and an household name in Nigeria Fred Hammond came on stage with a rapturous welcome. Coming all the way from Dallas, Texas, the artiste favoritely referred to as the 'D Worshipper' got his hands full with the Nigerian audience making several request of his titles. Rendering from Bread of Life, Glory to Glory, When the Spirit of the Lord and many of his hits, the whole place went agog. He started with the number You are my daily bread and added Lord of our Harvest. He went on a solo worship, He is here which was a Spirit-filled rendition. The crowd was moved to say the least and sure blessings were rained on the audience. At about 12midnight, he sang that special, Late in the midnight hour, and the whole place turned frenzied with christians all over the place waving at this anointed session. Very conscious of his time, he gave the track No weapon which is a household here too.

The audience had their hands full with this 2008 Grammy Award Winner Fred Hammond and I know they will look out to him coming back to Nigeria.

Pastor Paul Adeolu Adefarasin came on stage, spoke some powerful messages as he is known for, to the audience and gave some literal meanings of the venue and what it means from a phylosophical and spiritual perpestive to Nigeria, the most populous black nation in the world. He then called on what was the nationally special delivered in night. The rendering of the Nigerian National Anthem by the duo MaryMary. They sang and gave life to the lyrics of the song which like made the whole crowd who sang along reflect on the true meaning of the country's well packed National Anthem.

After this they took to stage and people went along with their popular style of music. MaryMary first gave the song, I just can't give up now, which the crowd chorused with such loudness it seems they were still on the National Anthem. With their well branded gospel music, they filled the air with spiritual led songs. They gave a classic from their latest album Get Up (Listen to it here)

Mary Mary - Get Up (New song)

though not yet familiar with the audience but still they got along quite well with the lyrics appearing on the mega screen. The crowd was raptuorous when they sang the popular Shackles and the Spirit filled the air as the artiste caught the fire of the anointing. Erika jumped into the audience, though guided by security personnel, the people were sent into some shaking with that rendition.

Somehow, that was the song that heralded, the heavy downpour that took the remaining morning. Immediately they left the stage, the downpour came heavily. The rain by the blogger's account swept through all the Lagos provinces. Meanwhile, the audience were defiant. They are here to listen, sing and worship their God. The household artiste Israel Houghton came on board and led the audience to a deep worship session even in the rain. Alpha and Omega, what the author regarded as the revival song in Nigeria, was rendered and by now the drenched crowd couldn't help it but sang aloud this wonderful country shaker track. He then sang How Great is Our God which heat the atmosphere despite the rain. The attitude of the crowd in the rain showed glaringly that they were ready to praise their God, come what may and rain wouldn't be enough to stop them.

Due to the still heavy downpour which was coming in its torrents, the engine ceased and the people resulted to doing a revival like atmosphere. All the artiste afterwards came on stage with the legendry Don Moen and the great Donnie Mcklurkin singing some few tracks.
Afterwards, Pastor Paul declared the meeting closed till next year because they will need to check on the sound systems.

It was a mixed filling though but the crowd were profoundly blessed all the same.

Lagos Experience 2008 will still receive a lot of reviews as it was viewed by CNN, TBN and a host of all other big broadcasting corporations and we hope next year will be glorious to say the least.dbelovedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03283604585534887489noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-680949756000730426.post-84572904635559383142008-03-13T07:24:00.004+01:002008-07-30T13:02:38.404+01:00Something about PotentialIt is innate ability. What you can do but you have NOT done i.e. you have the ability either u know it or not!

Most potential are not unearthed and worked out because of two things:

1. Ignorance of your potential (Not knowing what you can do)
2. Incapacity (Not being able to do what you know!)

Both of the above can be cured.

1. Ignorance of your potential
I will show two Scriptures for the two extremes.
Hos. 4v6 - My people perish for lack of knowledge
Jos. 1v8 - This book of the law shall not depart ... then you will make yourself prosperous and have good success
The third buttresses the second
Ps. 1v2-3 - ...so shall the knowledge of wisdom

These are keys and you are admonished to search for knowledge, don't be idle, look everywhere and search. Go to mentors to tell you how to know your potentials. The first mentor you have is the Holy Spirit. I think you can pray that He should come in and unearth your potential to the full glare for you.
Then there are great distinguished men out there to help you out. Books are the greatest way you learn experience virtually (if you know what I mean). You don't need to be there to be there actually. Get the experience of those that have been there through their literatures!

2. Incapacity to fulfil your potential
The very instance in the Scriptures of the man with infirmity for 38yrs beside Sea of Bethsaida is a very important case I want us to consider here (John 5v5). He told Jesus I know what to do but don't have the capacity to carry it out...u know the story. This can be solved by first getting a higher hand and using a principle I call KUD (pronounce as in cord). The acronym means knowledge Understanding Doing.

NB. Material on KUD will be sent to you ASAP.

In the meantime, keep unearthing your potential, Shalom!dbelovedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03283604585534887489noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-680949756000730426.post-84579452119643177022008-01-26T07:20:00.000+01:002008-01-26T10:22:34.653+01:00The Nigerian Spirit 1If you look at a country that is heavily invested into but greatly underperforming, you will pick Nigeria. Being the most populated black nation on Earth (approx. 1/4 of the whole of Africa) with great deposits of human and natural resources 'over abundant' even for the Earth itself, you kind of wonder, what is really wrong? I will do a spotlight on this in an attempt to join some of my respected personalities who have started in the attempt to reform the mind of the average Nigerian. Don't mind the former president, he was working on reforms in sectors of the nation without actually laying emphasis greatly on the people themselves. That is why a lot of his reforms have been faulted and failed. You start from the people and infact yourself the leader. I will say more of him later. Let me kick in to the intro.

Introduction
Various prophecies have gone forth that this is a nation filled with milk and honey and a land of great people and on. But there lies a problem with the Nigerian mentality. I was on a ride with some fellows the other day (these were Civil Servants) and got a true picture of what I am talking of as cutting across board. There is this cynical, pessimistic outlook for Nigerians like the statement of the Lord's disciple that can anything good come from Nazareth? A lot of Nigerians keep asking themselves that can anything good come from a Nigerian as they look at each other with skepticism that you already know it is a selfish interest that you are looking at.
The leaders have not helped matters all this while with series of allegations that they have been submerged in which they did not disprove themselves. Obasanjo has many, IBB is an enigma of corruption, Shagari was awful and the list goes on. Most governors in the past era even with their famed former affluence couldn't resist the temptation and they went awire misappropriating funds meant for community development.
What is really wrong?
Every average Nigerian believes you go to public position to loot the funds that is meant for all. The say it like this that it is everywhere: 'Mo wa ka bridge leko'.

It is really a distortion of the truth. The past generation up till now have been oriented to believe a great deal of lies and they leave in that confusion. People that are wealthy believe it should be to initimidate those who don't have and show class. The bridge was cut off as soon as a person moves the ladder up to riches while people on the basement regard it as their lot in life. Though some of these things might be worldwide but it is too evident in Nigeria. This continually make the poor masses prejudiced and even the so called rich don't enjoy things in the country except they travel to Yankee, London or somewhere else to enjoy their crooked wealth. Like Pastor Ashimolowo of KICC London said, the place is gloriously disorganized and everyone left it to no one.

All this is a mentality problem. Ever wondered that what you are given is not for your selfish attainment but for others. You make a living with what you get, but a life with what you give! But this is not in people's vocabulary here. Me, myself and mine is the language and the whole place is suffering the brunt.

This is a time to make a U-turn at least we have seen enough. I am taking this specially to arouse the spirit of a giant living all this while as a dwarf. This is being done to call the next generation...the world beater generation to leave the level of the cynicism, nepotism, tribalism and all the 'ism' and embrace something else.

Great works have started to be done (I will profile on that in Part II) and I am directing my people to look in the forward direction. Nigeria can be the best nation in the world not a struggling entity with a maligned identity.dbelovedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03283604585534887489noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-680949756000730426.post-32463295320457647562008-01-23T05:05:00.001+01:002008-07-30T12:55:27.714+01:00Welcome

This is a commitment to my world to give back in transforming....

There are too many ground crawlers I have observed all because of a single reason...REASONING!

You can call it how they think, their mindset or whatever you want to carve it to be.
